Launch your career in construction with our graduate and apprenticeship programme in the North. Our Northern construction business is made up of three sub-regions, with local offices in Oldham, Morley and Gateshead, delivering a wide range of projects across sectors including Education, Transport, Leisure, Commercial, Healthcare, Blue Light and Residential.
With projects ranging from around £10m to over £100m, you’ll have the opportunity to gain experience across different teams, sectors and stages of construction while building the foundations for a long-term career with Willmott Dixon.

Our programme is 2 to 5 years in duration (depending upon your level of academic achievement) and will give you the chance to earn, learn and gain real experience alongside a part-time study for a relevant qualification that is paid for by Willmott Dixon.

Starting in September 2027, we have opportunities in the following disciplines:
Quantity Surveying: You role is about managing the costs of a project on site. This will include preparing tender and contract documents, weighing up commercial risks, procuring the best supply chain and managing payments for completed work.
Site Management: You play a vital role in turning plans into reality, leading the safe and efficient delivery of construction projects from start to finish.
Preconstruction Project Management: You will oversee and support projects through the work-winning and preconstruction stages, responsible for developing winning bids and ensuring projects are planned, coordinated, resourced, risk-managed, and contractually secured ready for successful delivery by our site teams.
Design Management: You will overview, monitor and report on design programmes, and provide technical support to the bid process. In addition, you will be supporting the development of designs that utilise innovative techniques on multiple/complex projects.
New Business: You will work within the new business team supporting Business Development Managers, Proposal Managers, Framework Managers and the Communication team. Learning how the front end of the business operates, how we build customer relationships and win our work.
Essential Criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- 5 GCSE’s grade 4/C or above including English, Maths and Science (or equivalent)
- Have a valid driver's license.
- All applicants must have a minimum level 3 qualification by September 2027. Such as A-Level, T-Level, BTEC or equivalent.
- For graduate roles, you will need to be degree qualified by September 2027.
- (Desirable) You have had some exposure to construction (work experience, placement or similar).
