This combined 'all in one healthcare hub' will serve over 60,000 people in Chiswick as well as provide much needed key NHS working accommodation.
It is the new home for three GP practices – West4GPs, Chiswick Family Practice, and Chiswick Health Practice, and the new base for Chiswick Primary Care Network and community staff that will deliver a range of primary care services across Chiswick.
Background
Chiswick Health Centre replaced an existing facility, providing a modern local community healthcare environment with a broader range of GP services, including community and mental health services. It was designed by Allies & Morrison and Murphy Philipps, and continues our role in Hounslow, which includes the Brentford Block D and Frank Towell Court housing developments.
The new facility has consulting and examination rooms, district nurse facilities and community rooms. Further features include a public community garden, private landscaped central courtyard and fifth floor terrace and gardens to support local ecology and provide outdoor recreation space.
Homes
As part of the development, there are 55 affordable homes for key health workers such as nurses and physiotherapists (below).
Low carbon
Chiswick Health Centre will see carbon emissions reduced by 77%, and greater biodiversity with landscaped courtyards, a fifth-floor garden terrace, and a public community green space.
Ultimately, once complete the health centre will align with Hounslow Council, the Mayor of London, and the NHS' environmental commitments to use modern, low pollutant emitting technologies and solutions.
