Bransbury Park Leisure Centre
Supporting the council in delivering opportunities for increased health and wellbeing for a more connected community
We have been instructed by Portsmouth City Council to deliver the new Bransbury Park Leisure Centre.
Procured via the Southern Construction Framework, this leisure centre will serve the South Bransbury community and when complete in Winter 2027, will provide residence with new:
- 25m four-lane pool
- Learner pool
- 65-station gym
- Two exercise studios
- And NHS healthcare facilities.
A healthier community
Portsmouth City Council have invested over £40 million in sports and leisure facilities over the past decade, and this new project supports their vision for the future of the community.
Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council:
“This is an exciting moment for the Bransbury Park project and for the communities who will benefit from this much‑needed centre. The start of this work means we’re one step closer to delivering a modern, accessible centre with swimming, fitness and healthcare facilities.”
A strong pipeline of leisure centre work
Having delivered a number of successful leisure centre projects across the country, this project adds to our growing and healthy portfolio of leisure centre work.
Currently we are delivering Leighton Linslade Leisure Centre in Bedfordshire and the heritage refurbishment of Seymour Leisure Centre in Westminster, both of which we are working closely with the retrospective councils to support the enhancement of health and wellbeing facilities for local residence by delivering modernised and future-focused facilities.
Additionally, in recent years delivered the multi-award-winning Spelthorne Leisure Centre, one of the world’s most advanced, energy efficient Passivhaus leisure centres.
Richard Poulter, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon’s South Region:
“We are extremely excited to be starting work on delivering this activity hub for Bransbury. Having delivered a number of successful leisure centres across the country, we are keen to bring our expertise to this project, delivering a modern building that will enhance the lives of the local community.”
A mixed-use development
As part of this project, we will be delivering new NHS healthcare facilities. This will help to alleviate the pressure on the current GP practice on Devonshire Avenue, which is no longer fit for purpose, creating a hub for sport and healthcare.
A mixed-use facility in partnerships with the NHS is something we are also delivering in Barnes for LocatED. London River Academy combines education and health on a co-located site.
As with any mixed-use development, collaboration is key and our in-house project teams and supply chain partners have the expertise and experience to manage the challenging logistics required for mixed-use development projects.
