Willmott Dixon currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Project Surveyor to work on projects within our West Midlands area. We deliver projects between 10-100 million pounds across multiple sectors such including MOD, healthcare, blue light and education so no two projects are the same!
The role of a Quantity Surveyor is to provide commercial support on projects to ensure that it is procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers’ expectations. You will be responsible for the delivery of the project to meet its financial targets. You need to demonstrate a good working knowledge of contract conditions and procurement of packages of works as well as management of project risks. You will also have good communication skills with the ability to nurture productive relationships with both the supply chain and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest quality, exceeding customer expectations.
- Work closely with the project team and senior commercial staff to ensure budgeted targets are met.
- Establish strong working relationships with supply chain, consultants, and customers.
- Accurately value, certify, and issue payment notices for supply chain partners in accordance with contract arrangements.
- Manage the procurement of work packages from our proven supply chain partners in line with company standards and requirements.
- Ensure external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date.
- Complete cost value comparison (CVC) reports to accurately reflect the current position on site and the final projection.
- Identify any potential disputes in a timely manner and enable introduction of effective solutions
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel.
- Procurement and cost management experience.
- Excellent financial and contractual awareness.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Valid driving licence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Construction-related degree.
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
