Collaboration with Prime plc, University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust, Macquarie Group and IHSS

Willmott Dixon has completed two advanced healthcare facilities in Southampton that will support the UK’s world-leading role in healthcare R&D

The company delivered a highly specialised aseptic pharmacy and Sterile Services Department (SSD) at the Adanac Health and Innovation Campus, working with developer Prime plc. The Aseptic Pharmacy will manufacture sterile medicines for University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and other NHS providers in the region, while the SSD will sterilize medical devices and equipment.

A further highlight of the pharmacy’s capabilities is its upcoming production of TBN, a vital drug for premature babies, which will be produced exclusively at this facility for the entire Southern UK region.

Willmott Dixon and Prime plc worked with University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust (UHS), Macquarie Group and IHSS, emphasising the value of public-private partnerships in addressing demands of healthcare infrastructure.

To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and operational excellence to support this critical healthcare service, Willmott Dixon worked with Enblock Ltd, a specialist contractor in delivering design and build Cleanrooms.

Sustainability credentials include achieving BREEAM Excellent certification and featuring numerous photovoltaic panels to generate clean energy.

The facility will now support UHS, one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, by alleviating space constraints and bolstering the hospital’s ability to provide cutting-edge care to patients.
